Thanksgiving Fun :)

We had a really great Thanksgiving! It was just a small group of us but it was was kindof nice, we were all able to sit around the dinner table together. We did miss the family that was out of town but we had a nice day. The food was great as always and I was going to be try to be "good" and only eat one slice of pie, but of course that didn't work. The pie is my weakness!!! I justified it because I went to the gym Thanksgiving morning :)

This year we decided to be alittle crazy! Walmart just had the best stuff on sale this year and we wanted to be sure that we got everything that we wanted so we got in line at 9:00 pm on Thanksgiving. (Yes, we are those crazy people that you see on the news the day after thanksgiving frantically grabbing things off the shelves....this is the only day of the year that I allow my claws to come out :) The earliest that we have ever gotten in line is at 12:00 so this was a new record for us :) Anyway, we were prepared this year and brought a tent and two heaters. We played cards, made lots of friends with the other crazy people in line and we really had a great time.

Summer and I were a bit short handed this year so we recruited Toddie to come with us! He was such a good sport! He got our big things that were hard for us to get and really looked like an old pro! He said that he would NEVER do it again, but I think that he had a good time. Thanks Todd!!!

At 5:00 am the madness began! We had a game plan in the works and as the doors opened we went crazy. We were out of the store within 25 minutes with about 4 carts full of stuff. It was total insanity but also alot of fun! I know that it sounds crazy but I really look forward to this day all year long. In fact I am already counting down the days!!! (Not really :)

After all of the shopping we rewarded ourselves with a nice breakfast at IHOP. We met up with Kim, Bettie, Erin and Chelle. After a well deserved breakfast we went home and took a nice long nap. It was heavenly! It was definately a day that I won't forget!

Kids say the cutest things :)

Normally I would be posting something cute that Bryce said. Bryce is at such a fun and cute age and just about everything that comes out of his mouth is just so cute. But the past couple of weeks Shaun has said the funniest things and I wanted to be sure to write them down somewhere so that I would not forget about them....and where would be a better place than on my blog :)

So a few weeks ago Bettie and Steve bought a travel trailer. They were really excited because they got a really good deal and Steve was saying that he stole it from the guy and that they got a steal of a deal! So later that night, Shaun comes in and says "Mom, I think that grandpa stole that trailer from the guy"! "I heard him say that he stole it from him"! It was so cute and innocent! We of course had to explain to him that Grandpa didn't steal the trailer and that that is what people say when they get a really good deal. I'm not sure if he fully understood but it was so cute and we got a great laugh!

The second thing happened a couple of days ago while he was at school. He told me that they were learning about firemen in their class and his teacher was telling them that being a fireman was a really good job. She then went around the room and asked each child in the class what they wanted to be when they grew up. When she got to Shaun she asked him if he wanted to be a fireman and he said no. She asked him what he wanted to be when he grew up and he said that he couldn't think of anything right away so he told her that he wanted to be an elf! He said that the class started to laugh....including him and his teacher. He just comes up with the most off the wall things sometimes. Another too cute moment!

Shaun is such a joy to have in our family. He always keeps us on our toes and he is really trying to find himself. I love all of the cute things that our kids say and do. It really makes being a parent the best job ever!

Happy Thanksgiving!

I just wanted to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving. Besides Christmas, Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays. I love being with my family, cooking, of course eating and shopping the next day :) This year we will be at Bettie and Steve's house for Thanksgiving. I am looking forward to the yummy food and scoping out the ads for hours! I have so much to be thankful for and that is really the best thing to me about Thanksgiving. I love that a day is set aside for us to just think about the things that we have been blessed with. I hope that you all have a great Thanksgiving!!!

Our week in Oceanside

As most of you know my digital camera broke a few months ago so I haven't been able to post any pictures. Anyway, my cousin Tara had some pictures from our trip this summer to Oceanside. The third week in June we spent a week in a condo at Oceanside. We had a great time! It was a vacation that was much needed! We had a blast just hangin out at the beach and relaxing. Shaun and Bryce spent all day everyday in the water...between the ocean and the jacuzzi. Our last Saturday there, everyone came out and we had a bon fire and barbecue on the beach. I wish that the week could have lasted alot longer. Its crazy how fast a week flies by when you are having fun.

I'mmmmm Bacccckkkkkk!!

Ok...so I have to laugh! In my last post (that was forever ago) I was talking about how not a whole lot was going on. LOL...life has changed!! With Tommy starting a new business we have been trying to think of ways that we can cut our expenses and be able to put more money into the business. About a month ago we decided to put an ad in the newspaper to see if we could rent our house. Two weeks had gone by and we had gotten very few calls and no one was very interesed. Then the last week of our ad the phone was ringing off the hook and we had two people that were really interested. So anyway, we rented our house to a nice couple with three kids. Their son and Shaun have actually have been in the same class in school since the 1st grade (small world) so as you can imagine life has been crazy. I have had about 2 weeks to pack up my house. I feel like we are NEVER going to be finished. I think that child birth is the most painful thing in life and moving is a close second :) Steve and Bettie are kind enough to let us crash their house while we save up some money and hopefully get Tommy's business going. I do have to say that I seriously miss the blogging world! I miss keeping in touch with everyone! Hope you are all doing well!!!

Slacker!!!

I have been a complete slacker! I have probably clicked on my blog over 10 times this past week and everytime I just can't think of anything to write about. I am also so stumped because my camera is broken, so it's hard when you can't post pictures. Not a whole lot has been going on so I guess that's why I feel like I don't have a lot to write about. I know that I am setting myself up because whenever I say that I don't have alot going on, I seem to get bombarded with stuff. On Tuesday we had a baby shower for Erin. We got together at Mimi's Cafe and ate. It was a fun night out. I hardly ever get to get out on a week night so it was a fun night. Today I am planning on going to the girl's weekend that Summer put together. We are going out to Dana Point and spending the night in a hotel out there. I am excited....it should be alot of fun. Other than that life is pretty uneventful :) I am so excited that it is Friday!!! I love Fridays!! Fridays mean date night with Tommy (except for tonite cause I will be at the girls weekend) and I don't have to help Shaun with homework clear until Monday......yahhhhoooooo!!! I swear, I think that I get more excited about no homework then he does :) I do have to say that I don't ever remember getting as much homework as he has when I was in school. I am sure that alot of you can relate....it really is crazy! It's not just the homework packet but also the reading, math facts, and ect. ect ect. Anyway it's Friday and I excited!!! Hope everyone has a great weekend!!!

One of those days!!

So have you ever had a day where you just feel like you have done nothing but clean up messes all day?? Well that has been my day today. Bryce has been doing so well with potty training until today. I got home from the gym this morning and started with my cleaning and I hear Bryce calling for me so I go into the living room to see what he needs. He is standing there soaking wet and says "I go pee pee". So I clean him up, scrub the carpet and put clean clothes on him. I get back to my cleaning and about 30 minutes later I smell the nastiest smell. I go into the living room again and there is Bryce buck naked with the diaper wipes trying to clean himself up.....if you can't guess he had gone number 2. I followed the trail of you know what into the playroom and found and even bigger mess then the trail. I of course have to give him a bath, scrub the carpet again and get clean clothes on him. While I am doing this I had put his dirty underware into the toilet to attempt to clean them off enough so that I could wash them and I hear the toilet flush...luckily I made it and got them out before it was too late and before a bigger mess was created. A few hours later Bryce and I go and pick Shaun up from school. We get home and I give Bryce a gogurt and he sits down to watch Finding Nemo. I am in the kitchen helping Shaun with homework and I notice that Bryce is extremely quiet which is never a good sign. I go into the living room and he has finger painted with the gogurt all over my couchs. So once again I have a huge mess to clean up. At this point I really can do nothing but laugh. I was so exhausted from cleaning up messes...gross ones at that, that I just had to stand their and laugh. Anyway, just thought I would share one of the joys of motherhood that we all get to experience. Gotta love it!!

Labor Day Weekend

So after we had some nice R&R at Coronado Island, we picked up the kids and headed to the San Onofre State Beach for a weekend of camping. We spent the weekend with Jake and Erin and their kids. It was a blast! We realized that we don't go camping near enough. The kids love being dirty all weekend. They would get filthy dirty and then we would take them down to the beach to get cleaned up a bit :) The first night that we were there the guys (Tommy, Jake and Erik) thought that they would teach the girls how to play some texas hold em'. None of us (the girls) had ever played and we had fun but then they decided to play girls against guys with a wager. The bet was that if we won we got to go out the next day and do alittle shopping without kids and if they won they got to go out and have lunch without wives or kids. So we agreed and guess who won????......thats right girls.... we won!! I can't say that we smoked them but we did win. It was alot of fun and so as promised we got to do our little shopping venture the next day. The guys also had alot of fun surfing. The waves were nice on Monday morning and Tommy was excited that he got to end the trip off on a good note. He did say that he got pumbled by the waves a few times but it was worth it because he got some nice rides in. I do have to say that I think the kids had more fun then any of us. They really enjoyed the entire trip. The only bummer was wouldn't ya know that my camera broke. I did get a few pictures but I was so disappointed because it broke before I could get enough pictures. Hopefully this won't stop me from posting on my blog. I am going to die without my digital though. Maybe I should start hinting right now to Tommy that that is what I want for Christmas :)??? Anyway, here are a few of the pictures that I was able to get while we were camping.

Tommy's 33rd Birthday!!!!

We celebrated Tommy's birthday this weekend. He turned a whopping 33 years old! I like to tease him about his age but then I have to remind myself that for every year he adds, I add a year too....ooohhhh thats not so good! We are gettin old!! Anyway we had a good time. I arranged for us to spend two nights at the Marriot Hotel in Coronado Island. Neither of us had ever been to Coronado and it was so beautiful. Our room was nice and we had a beautiful view of the harbor. The first day we got there pretty late after dropping the kids off with Erik and Chelle (thanks guys!) so we pretty much just hung out around the pool and ate dinner. The next day we went to Old Town San Diego and walked around the shops and ate lunch and then after lunch we headed out to The San Diego Museum to see the Dead Sea Scrolls. It was interesting. We also had a chance to walk around the Museum and check out some of the neat things that were there. It is so funny how much stuff you can get done without kids. We really had a jammed packed day and it was alot of fun. Saturday was check-out day so we spent the morning packing and loading up the car and then we lounged for a few hours around the pool. Two days was definately not long enough but it was nice to get alittle rest and also to be able to remember that there is life beyond kids :) It was a great weekend!

"Thanks alot MOM"!

Today Bryce comes up to me and says "Bye, mom give me kiss...I go gym". "I needs my keys". I have a key hook where I hang all of our keys and I keep a pair of keys that are his "play" keys. So I opened the closet and got his keys off of the hook. Well he of course spots my keys and says "Ohhhhhh there mommy keys...I like yours keys. I kind of laughed because he does love my keys and I gave him his keys and he headed into the playroom. I continued on with my cleaning and then after a couple of minutes I realized that he was being awful quiet so I put down my broom and go into the playroom. Of course the door was closed so I opened the door and there was Bryce in the garage with a bucket proped up to the garage door opener, with my keys in his hand............he was caught!!!! I had caught him during his escape attempt :) So I brought him back inside and he ran over to his bean bag, sat down and hid the keys under his legs. I told him to let me have the keys or he would have to go on a time out. Then he takes the keys from under his legs and throws them on the ground and says "THANKS ALOT MOM"! I just started busting up! I had to take a second look to see if this was really my sweet, innocent little 3 year old. I couldn't believe that he said that!! I was so taken back and for a minute I felt like I was dealing with someone older...like Shaun. It was seriously so funny! He totally amazes me with the things that he says. I could not believe that he said that! Anyway, I thought it was too funny and I wanted to write it down before I forgot.

Signed,
The Funwrecker :)

Jenks Lake

Today we took the kids fishing at Jenks Lake near Big Bear. We had a really good time. Unfortunately we didn't catch anything but we still had alot of fun. The kids spent most of the time playing in the dirt and climbing up the trees. Bryce liked to fish the moss out of the lake and that was about all of the fishing that he did. Shaun had fun fishing but of course was a bit disappointed that he didn't catch anything. We had been there about 3 hours and the thunder started going off like crazy. About 15 minutes later there was a huge down pour followed by hail....( I think that's how you spell it??) Anyway it was pretty fun and even though the rain and hail drove us out it was nice to see a change in the weather.

Shaun

Shaun turned 8 this March. Shaun is definately full of energy! He is very social and loves to be on the go and always doing something. He really loves his cousins and is constantly asking if he can play with them. Last week he asked me if he could live on the farm with Grandma Bettie and Papa. He said that he would live with them Monday thru Friday and help grandpa and then he would come home on Saturday and Sunday so that he could spend time with us on Saturday and then go to church on Sunday. We had a good laugh! He loves Gavilian Hills! There is dirt, rocks, dogs, cousins everything thing that a boy needs :) I love having Shaun in our family. He really keeps us on the go and there is never a dull moment with him around.

Bryce

Bryce just turned 3 on August 4th. There is no other way to describe him other than "pure boy"! He loves trucks. dinosaurs, dirt, climbing on anything and he is constantly on the go. He is also obsessed with keys right now. He loves to get our keys and "go to work in his big truck" or he says that he is going to the gym. It is really cute but also quite frustrating since our keys are always turning up missing. I am so blessed to have such great kids and I love being a mom!

Shaun's First day of School!

Shaun started school last week and as much as I miss him it has been good for both of us. He really likes to be on a structured schedule and I like to not have to entertain and be on a structured schedule :) He loves his new teacher. Her name is Ms. Wilson and she seems to be a very sweet teacher. She has sent me two emails telling me how much she loves having Shaun in her class and that she is really excited to get to know him. Bryce has been asking me everyday if he can go to school. He wants to be just like Shaun so if Shaun goes to school, Bryce wants to go to school. I hopefully will have some pictures of Shaun's first day posted in the next few days!

Our Trip to Utah

We had such a blast this past week in Utah. I went with Shaun and Bryce for Rosemary's wedding. We spent the week swimming, preparing for the wedding and meeting up with old friends. I got to see one of my best friends from High School.....Sharla! It was so good to see her and her three adorable little girls. It has been over 10 years since I have seen her but we picked up like we had never been apart. The wedding went really good! The decorations were beautiful and Rose looked so pretty.
